As we head towards the Christmas exam...

Image
Another week of intense curricular transaction, as the Christmas exams are just three weeks away...     The last 3 papers in the Mid-term examination were conducted on Wednesday (forenoon and afternoon) and Friday afternoon respectively. The rest of the week was dedicated to complete the portions assigned for the Christmas examination.     I finished discussing the story "The Nightingale and the Rose" by Oscar Wilde. My focus was to familiarize the learners with the aesthetic sensibility of Wilde. The children were interested in listening to the story as it subtly struck the tragic chords of each heart through a touching love story. The concepts like true love, sacrifice, the motivating role of nature and the materialistic attitude of human beings were brought in for classroom interaction and the learners listened and responded actively.     The IT Fair and District level Social Science Fair were conducted this week. Experiences of an Exam Week

The week was solely dedicated to curricular activities and the students were a bit restless about the mid-term examination that was scheduled from Wednesday. I continued with the textual activities provided with the poem "Song of a Flower" and dealt with the poetic device "Metaphor" in detail.        I had invigilation duty for three subjects in the mid-term exam. We chose the topic, "Teenage Proble...

To the School Again..!!

After the hectic days of examination, we were back to school the last week... The children had been eagerly waiting for the sub- district level youth festival which was scheduled from 08th November to 10th November.   The arrival of the month celebrated as "Keralappiravi" in our state as a loving tribute to the official formation of the Kerala State as a part of the State Reorganization in 1956 was appropriately addressed in the morning assembly. To add to my happiness of going back to school, my students of 8B hosted the assembly which was a fiesta of songs, speeches and much more. From the morning assembly on Keralappiravi       During the break we took from the internship for our exam, the English teacher at the school Mrs. Chandrika, had finished the lessons "Rosa Parks Sat Still" and started the beautiful poem "The Sower". I took off from where she had left and glided to the next poem "The Village Blacksmith" which has much in common w...
