Another Week with Children

    After days of endless fun and exuberant creativity that culminated in the school arts fest "Dhwanitharangam", the school welcomed the new week with a rigorous refocus on academics. I engaged VIII B in the textual activities following the chapter "The Light on the Hills". In order to check the understanding of the learners, a role play of the story was organized on Wednesday this week.

On the Stage 

     Students enacted the roles of the little boy, his sister, their mother and the audience who appreciate the paintings of the boy with appropriate voice-over and did an excellent job. I felt glad that even the students who missed the class last week due to practice sessions for the arts fest, took pain to read and analyse the story and play different characters in the role play.

      On Thursday, 12th October 2023, we had the morning assembly, in which the students who received prizes in the sub-district level sports meet were awarded certificates.

       The officials from Canara Bank, Pandalam also participated in the assembly as a part of the Vidya Jyothi Educational Scheme. Vidya Jyothi is a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of the Canara Bank,  to encourage education among girl children belonging to SC and ST communities by extending financial support. The scholarship was awarded to selected students from each standard.

         Practice sessions for the sub-district level arts fest were scheduled during free time, under the supervision of teachers. An essay writing competition and film review contest were also organized this week. Apart from that, the week was mostly dedicated to classroom teaching and laboratory based learning experiences. I got more familiarized with the school ambience as well as the learners. Each day in classroom is an entirely novel experience, unique in itself. Perhaps, that is the greatest blessing of being a teacher..!!
