"All the World's a Stage"

A fascinating session on theatre practice...

Today, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of our college has organized a session on theatre practice as a part of the BEd curriculum. Mr. Prem Vinayak was the resource person. The session which started at 10.30am was packed with fun, liveliness, knowledge and experimentation.

We were introduced into the nuances of theatrical performance - the four types of abhinaya, the importance of voice modulation and the things to be noted during a performance on stage.

Our resource person - an exemplary actor, writer and teacher - also shared some valid points on writing drama and finally provided us with some real life situations like festival occasion, market, accident, kitchen, examination and police station, and encouraged us to recreate them groupwise on stage. Our group was assigned to recreate the market place scene.

It was an amazing experience to find ourselves transforming into writers and actors within such a short span of time.. The initial tension of how the performance would come out, the real excitement we felt on stage and the eventual applause we received from the audience - Putting them together, we were immersed in the magic of the theatre..
